Shrewsbury Town’s midweek Sky Bet League One fixture with Accrington Stanley ended in disappointment as the visitors ran out 0-2 winners.
A goal in each half from John Coleman’s men secured the win for Stanley as all three points headed back to Lancashire.
Town number four David Edwards was disappointed with the result and acknowledges Town need to pick up points in the coming fixtures.
"We are obviously really, really disappointed. I'd love to be speaking here having won the game. Words are a little bit hollow at times like this. As players, we want to go into every game wanting to try our hardest and want to put on performances. As you could see today, confidence was maybe a little bit low.
"We still had big opportunities to win the game of football but that seems to be the way it's going at the moment. Us players need to take responsibility when we are out there on the pitch - we have to make things happen.
"We knew it was going to be a tough night with the weather and the amount of games we've had but that’s no excuse. We have to go out there and take the initiative.
"I felt, as a team, we didn't make great decisions on the ball and were a little bit too safe at times - myself included. We took the easy pass, whereas sometimes you need to take the risky pass - those usually hurt teams.
"It's down to us on the pitch and we are disappointed with the result. We have a good group of players in there who need to react. The only way you get out of runs like this is by sticking together.
"We have to make sure we do the right things away from the football pitch and the right things in training. Hopefully, it will all come together, we need to get that result.
"We have to be real brave as players now and stand up and be counted. Words are hollow at this time; it’s all about actions. No fan, including myself wants to see us not win in nine games.”
