Salop Assemble New Groundcare Team
By Media Team on 24/07/2020
We have made some changes in recent months to look after our groundcare at the stadium and training ground.
Dave Saltman who looked after all our groundcare requirements over the past 5 years sold his company (Maxwell Amenity) last year to Aggrovista who intimated that they didn’t wish to continue with their contract to maintain the stadium and training ground pitches at the end of the 2019/20 season.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Saltman for all his hard work and expertise over recent years in providing quality surfaces for the players.
We are therefore delighted to announce that we have taken the groundcare back in house and have appointed three individuals who have a combined experience of 17 years maintaining football pitches. We strongly believe that our new team are the right individuals to continue the improvement of the pitches for the future.
John is our new Head Groundsman having made the move back home to Shropshire from Huddersfield Town FC where he was Deputy Head Groundsman.
John has been at HTFC for 3 years and originates from Shropshire having previously worked at Lilleshall National Sports Centre for 3 years.
Assisting John we have appointed:
Andy Austin joins the team from Lilleshall National Sports Centre for the past 8 years where he previously worked with John Silvester. Andy also was a volunteer helper on match days with AFC Telford United.
George Conway who joins from AFC Telford FC where he has worked since 2017. George was brought in to assist during the spell in which Wolverhampton Wanderers FC U23s played at AFC Telford and also worked at Wolves training ground.
Welcome aboard John, Andy and George!
